Safeguarding

Our Parish, St Joseph’s Pudsey, is absolutely committed to the safeguarding of its parishioners, and in particular to the protection of children and vulnerable adults from all abuse and to actively promote a safe, supportive and loving environment for them.

This commitment and duty flows from the knowledge that we are all made in the image of God and from the common belief of the Church in the dignity and uniqueness of every human life. Our guiding principle is that each child and each vulnerable adult has the right to experience the highest level of care and protection, encouragement and respect that we can provide.

We liaise closely with all statutory agencies to ensure any and all allegations of abuse are promptly reported and that those who are harmed are fully supported in the best and most appropriate way. We are supported at all times in this work by the Diocesan Safeguarding Team. This team are always contactable by parishioners if they have safeguarding concerns through these contact details:

It is essential we create a safe environment for all within our parish. To help achieve this we adhere to the safer recruitment of all parish volunteers and where necessary and appropriate we use the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The Parish Safeguarding Reps will advise and process applications in conjunction with the Diocesan Safeguarding Team.
