SATURDAY VIGIL MASS TIME CHANGE:
From the 30th/31st August, Fr Peter will also serve as the Parish Priest of St William of York, Morley (the church is dedicated to St Francis). From that weekend onwards, the Saturday Vigil Mass at St Joseph’s will be at 5.00pm. It was clear that most people attending the Vigil Mass preferred Mass at this time. From that weekend onwards, Mass at St Francis’ church in Morley will be at 6.30pm on Saturdays and 9.00am on Sundays.
CONFESSIONS: Saturday 4.30pm-4.50pm, or by request after any weekday Mass.
BAPTISM: Congratulations & prayers to Ronnie Stafford, who was baptised yesterday (Saturday).
REST IN PEACE: Please pray for the family and the repose of the soul of Mrs Shirley Margarita Tate, whose Cremation service is on Friday this week.

SVP LUNCH: Our St Vincent de Paul Society are offering friendship & lunch at The Cornmill Lodge hotel on Friday 26th September at 12noon. If you’d like to come along (and need transport), please sign the list on the noticeboard by the church door.

MOPS WALKS: On Saturday 6th September, those wishing to join the MOPs (Men of the Parish) for the walk in the Peak District should meet at New Pudsey train station at 8:30 (for the 8:39 train). BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP: Some of our parishioners, in conjunction with the Leeds Diocesan Elizabeth Prout Bereavement Care ministry, are offering support to anyone walking through loss by meeting for a cuppa, chat and listening ear. Briery Weekly Online Meditations: The Briery hosts a weekly hour of meditation/reflection focusing on the following Sunday’s readings, providing an opportunity for shared reflection in small groups, on Thursdays – reflection begins at 7.30pm, doors open from 7.15pm for a welcome/chat. DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO WALSINGHAM: Saturday 27th September. St Mary’s School in Menston is organising a coach for this annual day pilgrimage to our national shrine. The greater who sign up, the less the cost! Departure from Leeds would be at about 6.30am and would aim to return at about 10.00pm. The coach will take the group directly to the shrine for Mass at 12noon, and then into the village for Benediction in the abbey grounds for those who cannot walk the Holy Mile. ST MARK’S WAY ON THE NATIONAL JUBILEE PILGRIMAGE OF HOPE: Saturday 6th September starting with Mass at 8.00am in Leeds Cathedral. Walk all or part of the way between the cathedral and the Jubilee Pilgrimage Church of St Austin in Wakefield. FR LUIS ORLANDO PEREZ JIMENEZ SJ: is a Mexican Jesuit priest who is a researcher and lecturer in the field of human rights. His work as a lawyer at the Jesuit Human Rights Centre in Mexico City exposed him to the plight of families who had lost their children because of forced disappearances and killings, claiming over 100,000 victims. He is leading a Day Retreat at Hinsley Hall in Headingley on Saturday 11th October 10.30am-4.00pm, organised by SPARK and the diocesan Justice & Peace Commission. CATHEDRAL CHOIR FUNDRAISING CONCERT: Join the Senior Girls Choir of Leeds Cathedral for a concert raising funds for the Diocese’s Schools Singing Programme. PRIESTLY VOCATIONS DISCERNMENT MEETINGS: Time for prayers, questions, input from a priest and social time. There are two groups meeting simultaneously – under-18s and over-18s. Fridays 6.30pm-8.15pm: 19th September (Hinsley Hall), 17th October (Hinsley Hall), 14th November (Cathedral Hall), 19th December (Hinsley Hall). Under-18 participants must complete and return a permission form prior to attending. PERMANENT DIACONATE MASS: St Francis of Assisi was a deacon and to mark his feast day on Saturday 4th October Bishop Marcus will be celebrating the 12noon Mass at Leeds Cathedral in thanksgiving for the permanent diaconate in our Diocese. Clergy and lay faithful are invited to attend this celebration, especially men who may be discerning their possible vocation to the diaconate. Let us take this opportunity to pray for our permanent deacons and for vocations to the diaconate in our diocese.
MARCH FOR LIFE 2025: Join March for Life UK, Saturday 6th September, London. The right to life underpins every other right and without it every other right is rendered meaningless. ANNUAL BATLEY TORCHLIGHT PROCESSION: The Parish of St Mary’s, Batley will once again be hosting the annual Torchlight Procession on Monday 6th October, commencing at 7:30pm. The procession will start at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School (Upton St, Batley WF17 8PH), and end at the nearby St Mary of the Angels’ Catholic Church. The Torchlight Procession is a fine expression of our Catholic faith and gives honour to Mary, Mother of God. Refreshments afterwards. All welcome.
