Memorial Service – November

Memorial Service for the deceased & bereaved

On Remembrance Sunday,

November 11th, at 6pm,

there will be a special Service of Prayer

for all who have died in the past 12 months.

Prayers will also be offered

for the bereaved families.

The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed,

and the names of those who have had

Requiems/Funeral Services celebrated

by Fr Richard in the past year will be read out.

Families, & all bereaved will be invited to place

a grain of incense in the thurible,

to symbolise our prayers rising to heaven

for those we have lost, and for ourselves.

November is the traditional month

of the Holy Souls,

when we remember and pray

for those who have died.

Envelopes are available at the back of church

in which to put the names of those

we wish to pray for,

together with any offering we care to make.

All names are kept in a special box,

placed upon the altar during November.

A book of Remembrance,

containing the names of our loved ones

is placed near the tabernacle

until the first Sunday of Advent.

Did you know that purple vestments are worn

at funerals & during Advent, as a sign of hope?

One day we will meet the Lord face to face.

+May the souls of the faithful departed,

through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
