Leeds Citizens” is collaborating with Citizens UK in a campaign to improve the pay and conditions of work of thousands of support workers in nursing, residential and care homes (Social Care Sector). Their plight has been accelerated through the current pandemic and it is vital that the support for them demonstrated through the ‘clapping’ events is turned into concrete action.

This campaign is targeting the Autumn Budget and the ask from the Government is to commit to £1.4 billion pounds additional funding for this sector.

Our Diocese is a partner of Leeds Citizens. A proforma has been developed to gather personal testimonies from those working in the field to contribute towards encouraging the Government to act. If you are a care worker and would like to have your say, please download the proforma by clicking here and email it to or print it out and post it Rev. Dr. Joseph D Cortis 162, Quaker Lane Cleckheaton BD19 5JD.

The deadline for responses is 20th September, 2020.
